Organisers of the OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO have confirmed Alzheimer’s Society as Charity Partner for the 2018 event on Sunday 18th March.
Alzheimer’s Society joins Cancer Research UK in supporting the 12th edition of this flat, fast and scenic race in beautiful Cyprus. One of Europe’s most exciting sporting events, the AIMS-accredited OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO is ideal for runners of all abilities, including first-time marathon runners, elite athletes looking for a PB and charity runners wanting to raise money for a cause close to their hearts.
Athletes of all nationalities are attracted to the Mediterranean climate, friendly welcome and breathtaking course, which covers long stretches of the spectacular coastal road of greater Limassol. Starting at the palm-tree lined seafront at Molos, the marathon race takes runners to the new port, the old harbour and the ancient ruins of the Royal City of Amathus, with magnificent views along the way. For many, it is a fantastic chance for a weekend away enjoying a stunning destination and a world-class race.
All money raised at the OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO for Alzheimer’s Society will help the charity in its effort to unite against dementia. Alzheimer’s Society is the only UK charity investing in research into dementia care, cause, cure and prevention, whilst working to meet the needs of people affected by dementia and inspiring change. All fundraising efforts will help Alzheimer’s Society to make greater progress towards its vision of a world without dementia, and its announcement as Charity Partner is expected to be warmly received by the many British runners preparing to run in Limassol next spring.
Anyone wishing to run the OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO for Alzheimer’s Society should sign up for a place on the race website, and then get a fundraising pack directly from Alzheimer’s Society. The charity will supply a free running top and support all the way.
For runners wishing to support Alzheimer’s Society but preferring a shorter distance, the OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO offers six races over two days, Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th March. The choice of race distances enables runners of all abilities to enjoy the friendly atmosphere, warm spring weather and stunning natural scenery of Limassol, all made easier by the availability of low-cost flights from the UK and specially tailored packages from the race organisers.
OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO Race Director Andreas Spyrou commented: “It is a pleasure to welcome Alzheimer’s Society as a Charity Partner for the 2018 OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO.
