The City of Nottingham Triathlon is a brand new and exciting event hosted on closed roads alongside the River Trent, on Nottingham’s famous Victoria Embankment.
Taking place on Saturday 2nd September 2017, it is aimed mainly at novice triathletes, offering a friendly introduction to the sport and a super fun sprint for everyone who takes part.
The triathlon involves a 300m pool swim, a 12km cycle on safe, closed roads, and a flat 3km run. The swim comprises nine lengths of a 33m pool before transitioning to the bikes and heading for the Embankment, where the same bike and run set up will be used by elite athletes in the British Triathlon Elite Mixed Relay later that same day. The sprint distance can also be entered as a relay team.
The City of Nottingham Triathlon is a first-class, professionally run event with electronic timing and a unique finisher’s t-shirt. It is a fantastic new challenge held on closed roads, which is a first for Nottinghamshire, and is expected to attract athletes from near and far.
Organisers OSB Events are one of the UK’s leading sports events companies specialising in events in and around the Midlands, and they will be using their expertise and knowledge to deliver this fantastic new triathlon in beautiful Nottingham.
The event will also offer a shorter distance GO TRI option, which is ideal for those wishing to try their first triathlon but as a shorter, non-competitive event. The GO TRI distances are a 200m swim, 6km cycle and 1.5km run.
The City of Nottingham Triathlon takes place on the same day as the British Triathlon Mixed Relay Cup, an exciting relay event that will welcome top Olympic triathletes including the Brownlee brothers and Jodie Stimpson. Teams of four will compete against each other on Nottingham’s Victoria Embankment, each athlete completing a short and fast triathlon before handing over to their team mate for the next leg. Thousands of spectators are expected to gather for this outstanding celebration of sport in the city, and grandstand tickets are available to buy to watch the athletes as they swim, cycle and run their way around the course.
