The award-winning Ealing Half Marathon returns to West London’s Lammas Park at 9am on Sunday 24th September 2017 for its 6th anniversary race. Set up as a legacy to London’s Olympic Games, the Ealing Half is a much loved event that brings the community together and attracts runners from all over the UK and abroad to experience the #EalingFeeling.
For the first time, the Mini Mile will take place the day before the Ealing Half Marathon, on Saturday 23rd September. This follows huge demand from young runners aged 6-16 wanting to be part of this popular sporting event, and allows for 1500 Mini Mile places in 2017 compared to 400 places in 2016. The Mini Mile will take place from 2pm on the Saturday in waves.
The 2016 Ealing Half Marathon was the event’s most successful year to date and saw the leafy streets of West London filled with thousands of runners and spectators. It is now a firm fixture in the autumn running calendar and a big favourite among the running community, collecting the Silver award in the Best Half Marathon category (more than 5,000 runners) at the The 2017 Running Awards. It was also voted the UK’s best half marathon by runners at The Running Awards in 2014, 2015 and 2016.
In addition to supporting two top tier charities, the Ealing Half Marathon has partnered with JustGiving as the race’s Official Online Fundraising Partner. The world’s leading online fundraising platform, JustGiving will be helping Cancer Research UK and Alzheimer’s Society – as well as a number of local charity partners – to maximise their fundraising in Ealing next autumn.
The Ealing Half Marathon is a UKA measured course on closed roads around West London. The 13.1-mile single lap course takes runners through Central Ealing, Montpelier, Pitshanger, West Ealing, Hanwell and St Stephens before crossing the finish line in Lammas Park.
Runners can get a feel for the fantastic atmosphere and attractive setting of the Ealing Half Marathon in the following video, which features commentary from a handful of the 130 runners who have run every Ealing Half to date:
Ealing Half Marathon: The Movie!
The Ealing Half Marathon attracts an international running field but has its roots firmly in the local community and sees a lot of support from local businesses, residents and runners. The race is a Community Interest Company (CIC), which exists to benefit the community rather than private shareholders. All money raised by the race is invested straight back into campaigns and activities within the local community, such as projects to tackle childhood obesity and setting up running clubs at schools and for adults.
