The Llanelli Half Marathon returns on Sunday 18th February 2018 and entries are open to this spectacular event in West Wales.
The beautiful half marathon starts and finishes at the home of the legendary Scarlets rugby team, Parc y Scarlets. It takes runners on fully closed roads towards the National Wetlands Centre before joining the magnificent Millennium Coast Path, which overlooks Llanelli beach and offers breath-taking views of the Loughor Estuary and the Gower Peninsula. The 13.1-mile route then continues to Festival Fields before turning and heading back along the path to Parc y Scarlets.
In addition to the spectacular scenery, runners are treated to a wonderfully flat and fast course that offers real potential for a PB. Whether for first time half marathon runners, runners chasing a PB or those training for a spring marathon, the Llanelli Half Marathon is a fantastic race to blow away the winter cobwebs and get the season off to an exhilarating start.
The 2017 Llanelli Half Marathon saw the course record smashed and hundreds of PBs achieved on a day of near-perfect running conditions. Race pacers helped many runners to achieve their target times and the atmosphere in the stadium was fantastic as the athletes crossed the finish line to the cheering of spectators.
Runners at the 2018 event can once more look forward to hitting their targets thanks to a team of race pacers provided by Xempo Race Pacing.
Entries are also open for charities and businesses that wish to take part in what has become West Wales’ premier race. Corporate and charity places are open for any organisation, be it a social enterprise, local charity or national company; the Corporate Challenge is a fantastic opportunity to actively promote a healthy workforce and encourage fitness, motivation and team building, whilst the race is a perfect opportunity for people to run and raise money for great causes.
The 2017 Llanelli Half Marathon was won by Josh Griffiths in 01:05:18, breaking the course record by an impressive four and half minutes. Carys Hughes set a new women’s course record of 01:21:21.
The Llanelli Half Marathon was taken over by Front Runner Events in 2017, to great success. The race has received a hugely positive response and the organisers are looking forward to making it even bigger and better in 2018. It is part of the Front Runner Events Trilogy of three half marathons, and runners registering for all three events receive a reduced price and limited edition medal (see below).
Race entry includes a fully closed road event, bespoke medal, technical t-shirt, Brecon Carreg water stops every 3 miles, energy gels at miles 6 and 9, race pacing and more.
Brecon Carreg is the Hydration Partner for the 2018 Llanelli Half Marathon.
