The seventh Saucony Cambridge Half Marathon takes place on Sunday 4th March 2018 and all 9,000 general entries were snapped up within three days of entries opening.
Anyone wishing to take part in this much-loved race in the beautiful and historic city of Cambridge can still do so by gaining a place through the official race charity, Cancer Research UK. Charity places with Cancer Research UK cost £20 with a pledge to fundraise a minimum of £300, and are available through the Cancer Research UK website.
With the 2018 event looking to be the biggest and best yet, this is the fastest year the event has ever sold out. Demand for city centre half marathons is on the rise and the Saucony Cambridge Half Marathon consistently receives excellent reviews and feedback, with over 96% of participants from the 2017 event confirming they would run the Saucony Cambridge Half Marathon again. Rated between ‘good’ and ‘excellent’ were aspects such as the registration process, value for money, pre-event information, medal, overall atmosphere, timing and results, with credit due to race organisers OSB Events.
The Saucony Cambridge Half Marathon always generates huge interest from local Cambridgeshire runners as well as from the wider running community. The 13.1-mile, one-lap race takes runners on a whistle-stop tour of this iconic city, passing Victoria Avenue, The Backs, Fitzwilliam Museum and King’s College before continuing through picturesque Grantchester, Market Square and the Round Church. A glorious finish then awaits at Midsummer Common, where the main event hub is located.
On race day, thousands of spectators come out to line the streets and cheer on competitors, and there is plenty of entertainment for everyone to enjoy. Cambridge is also a fantastic location for friends and family to come along and spend the weekend, with countless cafes, museums, galleries, quaint alleys, independent boutiques and historical attractions to make this a destination well worth visiting.
Competitors receive all the elements to be expected from a high-profile city centre running event, including online registration, chip timing, UKA certified distance, on-course entertainment, professional event medical cover, high quality medals and goodie bags.
