Shrewsbury Half Marathon

The Shrewsbury Half Marathon returns to the streets of Shrewsbury on Sunday 18th June 2017.

Shrewsbury Half Marathon UKRunChatThe race organisers, UKRunChat Events, took over the Shrewsbury Half Marathon in 2016 and will be building on the success of the race whilst looking forward to welcoming both returning and new runners to #RunShrewsbury in 2017. The route has proved highly popular, taking in both the Medieval town centre of Shrewsbury and some of Shropshire’s beautiful countryside, all on fully closed roads.

The hilly but scenic race starts and finishes at the Shropshire County Show Ground, a 53-acre venue with ample space and facilities for half marathon competitors and supporters. The route then takes runners along the river in the beautiful Quarry and through the historic town centre, past hundreds of listed buildings and down steep narrow streets, before heading out over the English bridge to run a loop of the Kingsland estate.

Shrewsbury Half Marathon UKRunChatAfter they ‘conquer the Wyle Cop’, the UK’s longest row of uninterrupted independent shops, runners then head out to run the second half of the race in the rolling Shropshire countryside.

The race finishes back at the Show Ground where finishers receive a medal, technical t-shirt and goody bag. Free pre- and post-race massages are available, and race pacers will be available for the 2017 race.
