The legendary Triathlon Relays Championship returns to the National Watersports Centre in Nottingham on Saturday 26th August 2017.
With over 1600 athletes and 100 different clubs welcomed in 2016, organisers OSB Events are proud to call this unique and award-winning team event ‘organised chaos’. Formerly known as the Club Relays, it has been renamed the Triathlon Relays to reflect that it is open to all athletes wanting to compete in this one-of-a-kind championships.
OSB Events has also been working alongside British Triathlon Federation & Triathlon England to simplify the rules, which follow a standard relay format.
Teams of four compete, with each member of the team individually swimming 500 metres before tagging their team mate, and so on, until all four members have completed the swim. The next section is the 15km bike, again with each team mate completing their individual ride, until the last team member tags the first team member to start the 5km run section. The racing takes place on a completely closed road course to provide perfect racing conditions for athletes and spectators.
Starting at 08.45, the men’s and women’s categories will race in various categories for National Championship Awards – junior, senior, vet 40 and vet 50. From 13:45 in the afternoon, the mixed category will then give the chance for the men’s and women’s teams to combine and race for more National Championship Awards.
Cancer Research UK is the official charity partner for the Triathlon Relays, having partnered with OSB Events since 2012.
Entry to the Triathlon Relays Championship is open and costs £164 per team of four. A total of 450 teams can compete in the 2017 event.
