Susie Chan Monthly Update – April 2017

3rd May 2017

Susie Chan Marathon des Sables 2017

We’re just over 4 months into the year and Susie Chan has already clocked up 800 miles this year alone. The endurance runner has had another action-packed month and we’re excited to bring you all her latest news, from her third attempt at the legendary Marathon des Sables to pacing, hosting and presenting at events across London! Sit back and be inspired…

10 Highlights of the Month for Susie Chan

1. Marathon des Sables – 7th-16th April

Susie completed her third Marathon des Sables in April as part of team WAA – a truly astounding feat in the heat and sands of the Sahara. This time around it was quite a different race to her previous attempts, the 6-day, 250km ultramarathon really taking her back to basics and making her realise that it’s not what number you end up in the rankings that counts, but what you learn about yourself on the journey to the finish line. Susie should be proud to hold that medal and her blog about the Marathon des Sables is fascinating. Congratulations, Susie!

2. Women Run Strong with Strava – 21st April

Susie hosted the hugely popular Women Run Strong with Strava event in central London, with co-host Kelly Roberts. Timed to inspire pre-London Marathon, tickets were snapped up within one hour as 100 runners of all abilities signed up to a pre-marathon shake-out run led by Susie and Kelly along Tower Bridge, followed by a lively panel discussion at The Running Works.

Joining Susie and Kelly on the panel were Women’s Equality Party leader and marathon runner Sophie Walker and American elite runner Devon Yanko. The evening was a fantastic success; Women Run Strong was supported by Breathe Unity PR.
