The Wilmslow Triathlon, which always sells out well in advance, will be back in the Cheshire town for the 11th time on Sunday 14th May 2017.
The pool based triathlon sees a strong presence from triathlon clubs across the region year after year. As it continues to grow, the organisers are urging anyone who wants to take part to sign up as soon as possible.
Based at the Wilmslow Leisure Centre, the 400m swim takes place in the 5 lane 25m indoor pool and the transition area as well as the start and finish are on the cricket pitch. The picturesque, mainly flat 24.2 km cycle ride takes the competitors around the Cheshire countryside and the 6.3km run follows East Wilmslow’s leafy roads, a mostly flat route with some inclines near the River Bollin.
The well organised and popular Wilmslow Triathlon has been consistently growing in size and popularity over the last few years, attracting novices, experienced and elite triathletes alike.
The current course records are held by Paul Skipper (01:02:13) and Jacqui Slack (01:09:57), and the Wilmslow Triathlon is widely referred to as ‘the biggest and best sprint triathlon in Greater Manchester and beyond’.
