2018 Lincoln Half Marathon open for expression of interest

OSB Events, the organisers of the Lincoln Half Marathon have announced that the 2018 race will take place on Sunday 30th September and expressions of interest are now open until 11th February.

Anyone who expressed interest will be sent a link to sign up at the reduced early bird fee of £30 for affiliated runners or £32 for non-affiliated runners. General entries will then open via the website at 9am on 20th February.

Lincoln Half Marathon launch OSB EventsThe race was officially launched last Friday, Friday 2nd February, at Intersport Lincoln, who is the Official Sports Retailer for the 2018 event. ON has been confirmed as the Official Sports Brand for the 2018 Lincoln Half Marathon. Other event sponsors announced so far include Your Print Partner, Running Imp, HIGH5, ERDINGER Alkoholfrei and City of Lincoln Council.

This will be the third edition of this popular half marathon that gives runners an unbeatable tour of the beautiful city of Lincoln. Covering a closed-road 13.1-mile course, and with superb spectator support along the way, the route passes through Lincoln’s historic Cathedral Quarter before dropping down to the vibrant Brayford Wharf area and then returning uphill to the Cathedral Quarter. Here, runners are rewarded with the magnificent sights of Lincoln Castle and Lincoln Cathedral – where The Da Vinci Code was filmed – before returning to cross the finish line at the Lincolnshire Showground.

Lincoln Half Marathon 2018It certainly makes for one of the most spectacular city half marathons in the UK, topped off with a first-class race village at the Lincolnshire Showground. For runners living locally and for those coming from further afield, it is the perfect race venue with plenty of space and on-site parking. Visitors can look forward to a fantastic atmosphere with live entertainment from DJs and bands as well as a range of delicious food and drink vendors to keep everyone fuelled throughout the day.

Those travelling to spend the weekend in Lincoln will find that the city has an enormous amount to offer as a half marathon location. From the quaint shops and cafes to the plentiful galleries or historic landmarks, it makes for a great-value weekend away in a stunning setting and an ideal opportunity to include friends and family in race plans.

In addition to the Lincoln Half Marathon, 2018 sees the first ever Lincoln Mini Marathon, an event based entirely within the safe surroundings of The Lincolnshire Showground for under 17’s. The Mini Marathon will take place on Sunday 30th September, starting shortly after the half marathon.

The second Lincoln Half Marathon Corporate Challenge takes place on the same day, giving local businesses the chance for a little friendly rivalry whilst getting fit, having fun team building and raising money for charity.

The 2018 Lincoln Half Marathon promises to be another professional and friendly race from seasoned event organisers OSB Events. Competitors can look forward to smooth organisation, an impressive medal and lots of cheering along the way from the crowds.
