The 2018 Shrewsbury Half Marathon returns to the streets of Shrewsbury on Sunday 17th June.
Organised by UK Run Events, the events channel of UKRunChat, the 2018 Shrewsbury Half Marathon powered by UKRunChat and Breathe Unity is looking forward to welcoming both returning and new runners to #RunShrewsbury in 2018, and promises to be the biggest and best event yet.
The 2017 event was a huge success, its closed-road route through Shrewsbury’s Medieval town centre and some of Shropshire’s most beautiful countryside offering a perfect combination of history and scenery.
The scenic race starts and finishes at the Shropshire County Showground, a 53-acre venue with ample space and facilities for competitors and supporters. The route then takes runners along the river in the attractive Quarry and through the historic town centre, past hundreds of listed buildings and the UK’s longest row of uninterrupted independent shops. The second half of the race takes in the rolling Shropshire countryside.
All finishers receive:
- Bespoke Medal
- Technical T-shirt
- Goody Bag
- Free Pre and Post Massage
- Free Race Photos (worth £19.99) powered by Pic2Go Technology
- Entertainment at the Race Village for Runners and Spectators.
New for 2018 is the very first Shrewsbury Half Marathon Corporate Challenge. The race has teamed up with Shrewsbury Business Park to bring this exciting half marathon challenge to businesses of all sizes. Businesses can enter teams of up 1-5 runners and enjoy getting fit, healthy and more active whilst training together, working together and taking on colleagues or rival businesses. There will be a team trophy and prizes for the fastest business, based on the cumulative finish time of the fastest 3 runners – plus a prize will be awarded to the fastest male and the fastest female runner.
A #UKRunChat pacing team will be present at the 2018 Shrewsbury Half Marathon to guide runners and help them achieve their target times on the 13.1-mile course. This is a fantastic opportunity to run with experienced pacers in a friendly, social environment and ensure that you achieve your goals on race day.
The Shrewsbury Half Marathon is a great excuse for a weekend away with family and friends in one of the most picturesque parts of the UK.
