The ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon won Gold at The 2017 Running Awards which took place at indigo at The O2 in London last Thursday, 20th April.

Running Awards 2017 Best Marathon ASICS Greater Manchester MarathonASICS Greater Manchester Marathon came first in the “UK’s Best Marathon” category (over 5,000 runners) as independently voted for by runners and reclaimed its winning title from 2014 and 2015, making a stake in the ground and proving the huge loyal following of this popular race.

The 2017 event took place in Trafford on Sunday 2nd April and was hailed an outstanding success by all involved. The ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon is well known for being the UK’s flattest, fastest and friendliest marathon, and the 2017 edition resulted in a disproportionately high number of PBs.

The organisers, Xtra Mile Events, also took home the Bronze trophy after the Aldi Manchester Half Marathon, which took place for the first time last October, came third in the Half Marathon category (over 5,000 runners).

The Running Awards is the only independent annual awards ceremony celebrating the best of running and its culture, with runners and consumers nominating and voting for their favourite products, brands, publications, sports retailers, charities and events.

Both the ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon and Manchester Half Marathon are a great platform for charity fundraising, supporting national and local charities.
