The inaugural British Airways Run Gatwick takes place on Sunday 13th May 2018 and entries are open.

The UK’s most exciting new road race includes an International Half Marathon & 5K, a Corporate 5K and a Family Run for children aged 4-15 years. The choice of race distances aims to encourage runners of all ages and abilities to get active and enjoy the experience of a big sporting event. The races will take place on fully-closed routes through the parks, towns and beautiful West Sussex countryside around Gatwick Airport, and the race village will be located in Southgate Park, just opposite the deluxe Arora Hotel.

The start and finish of all races will also be at Southgate Park, and a total of 7,500 places are available across the various races.

British Airways Run GatwickBritish Airways is the headline sponsor for this thrilling international event at one of the UK’s major hubs.

With its prime location at Gatwick Airport, the event is set to attract elite, club and amateur runners from the UK and abroad looking for a highly professional late spring race in an easily accessible location, with fantastic transport links.

The International Half Marathon starts at 09:00 and is set on a closed-road, single-lap course that takes in a combination of town centre, beautiful rural Sussex and Surrey and the buzz of Gatwick Airport. With a fully-equipped event village at Southgate Park, a huge bag drop, festival stage with live music and commentary, staggered start times, a fantastic team of pacers and regular toilets and water stations, runners can look forward to a first-class race experience.

The 5K race starts at 09:20 and is perfect both for new runners wanting a challenge and for experienced runners looking for a short, fast race.

The Corporate 5K is expected to be a hugely popular part of race weekend, with many local businesses expected to enter teams of all abilities and promote health and fitness in the workplace. The Ambra Corporate VIP Area is available at an additional fee, providing participants with food and drinks, a relaxed seating area, private toilets, changing area and free massages.

The Family Run, meanwhile, is a fantastic opportunity for children aged 4 upwards to experience the thrill of taking part in this exciting new sporting event in the south east. The 1-mile race starts at 12:30 and follows a safe, traffic-free route in and around Crawley.

Expectations are high with the event being organised by the same team behind the award-winning Intersport Run Reigate Half Marathon Half Marathon and 10K. Now entering its fifth year, the Intersport Run Reigate Half Marathon won Gold for the UK’s Best Half Marathon (≤ 5,000) at The Running Awards 2017 and has quickly grown to become a firm fixture in the running diary.

British Airways Run Gatwick has confirmed Gatwick Airport and Intersport as partners, plus official race charities British Airways Flying Start, The Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance and St Catherine’s Hospice. Two further national and four further local charities will be announced shortly.
