The organisers of the OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO have announced that the second Cyprus Running Community Forum will take place on Thursday 15th March 2018, ahead of race weekend on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th March.

The Bank of Cyprus 2nd Cyprus Running Community Forum, with the collaboration of the Cyprus University of Technology and OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO, will host international guests from the world of running who will share their stories of what running means to them.

The aim is to highlight the economic, social and cultural impact of a sport loved by so many, and to inspire the runners of tomorrow.

Starting at 19:00 at the Tasos Papadopoulos Amphitheatre, the evening will welcome Dimitris Kyriakides, Ambassador and Guardian of Stelios Kyriakides Legacy, who will be talking about Greek marathon runner and winner of the 1946 Boston Marathon, Stelios Kyriakides. His talk is entitled ‘Stelios Kyriakides: The Journey of a Warrior’.

Following Mr Kyriakides will be Berislav Sokac, the Founder of Run Croatia, who will be talking about the ‘Economic and Touristic Benefits of Running’.

Dr Petros Agathangelou, President of Cyprus Medical Association, will then be discussing the popular topic of ‘The Contribution of Exercise to Wellbeing’.

The evening will conclude with a Q&A session with George Loucaides, Pioneer of the Cyprus Running Community.

The Forum will be an inspiring precursor to the 12th edition of OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO. A total of six races will take place over the course of race weekend, welcoming some 15,000 runners to this highly anticipated international celebration of running.
