Ealing Half Marathon runners raise over £155,000 for charity

The 2021 Ealing Half Marathon took place on Sunday 26th September, and whilst there are many reasons to applaud the return of mass participation running events this autumn one of them is charity fundraising, which saw a huge decline during the pandemic.

Ealing Half Marathon organisers encourage runners to raise money for worthy causes, and they are pleased to confirm that over £155,000 was raised for charity through the official platforms in 2021, adding to the impressive £2.5 million raised from previous races.

The official charities for the 2021 race included Alzheimer’s Society, Cancer Research UK, Macmillan Cancer Support and Meadow House Hospice.

Cancer Research UK and Macmillan Cancer Support have been announced as Platinum Charities for 2022, whilst Meadow House Hospice returns as Gold Charity. A Mile in her Shoes, CPISRA, The Log Cabin and The Store Cupboard are amongst the Associated Charities confirmed so far. Further details about running for charity can be found on the charity page of the race website.

Any charities wishing to get involved with Ealing Half Marathon 2022 should email info@ealinghalfmarathon.com for more details.

The 10th anniversary edition of the event will be taking place on Sunday 25th September 2022 and entries are open. The 13.1 mile course will start in Lammas Park and will be run in a single lap, taking in parts of Central Ealing, Montpelier, Pitshanger, West Ealing, Hanwell and St Stephens before returning to Lammas Park via Uxbridge Road.

Set up as a legacy to London’s Olympic Games, Ealing Half Marathon is a firm fixture in the autumn race calendar and a big favourite among the running community, with the famous #EalingFeeling experienced by runners near and far.

Sandra Courtney, Race Director, said, “It has been a tough eighteen months for many charities, and we are proud to confirm that Ealing Half Marathon runners have raised over £155,000 for charity through the official platforms in 2021. A big thank you to every single runner who raised worthy funds for the charities with their half marathon efforts, you are all amazing!

“We would like to welcome Cancer Research UK and Macmillan Cancer Support as our Platinum Charities for 2022, and we are looking forward to returning in full force and to smashing this fundraising figure next year.”
