Enter the Tree Run and support a NHS Trust Charity!

One Running Movement, in collaboration with Planet-U Energy, have gifted 100 places to Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust Charity, and opened general entries for The Tree Run | Virtual for anyone wishing to support the NHS Trust Charity.

“The Tree Run” is a virtual event taking place on 25th April, and for every runner a tree is planted in Yorkshire by Planet-U Energy, in their woodland nature reserve with a biodegradable plaque featuring the runner’s name or dedicated to a friend, relative or loved one.Runners also receive a wooden medal that is ethically and sustainably sourced.

100 hospital staff members and friends of the Trust will be taking part to raise money for the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust Charity . The charity makes a difference by funding projects and initiatives that enhance care and improve patient, visitor and staff experience but fall outside of standard NHS provision. The money raised from The Tree Run will help fund staff wellbeing initiatives such as dedicated emotional support for frontline staff, which is particularly important during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Tree Run is classed as an honesty run, and the chosen distance can range from 5K to marathon, in line with the individual’s health and wellbeing goals. The distance needs to be completed on or by Sunday 25th April 2021 and it can be run or walked alone or with others (in line with current COVID-19 rules).

A picture of the tree will be sent to each participant within 12 months of it being planted, and the trees for Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust Charity will be planted together in the Planet-U Energy nature reserve and woodland.

Jo Gennari, General Manager at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust and founder of #TeamLGT, commented: “I am proud to say that we have got a team of 100 runners taking part in The Tree Run this April. A big thank you to One Running Movement for gifting 100 places that allow us to raise funds, and to anyone else entering The Tree Run in aid of Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust. In addition to the benefits of running for our health we love that a tree is not only planted, but that we can dedicate that tree to a loved one. We have sadly lost a number of colleagues during the COVID-19 pandemic. We will be running in their memory and will dedicate our trees to them.”

#TeamLGT is the Trust Running Group, and the team promotes health and wellbeing through running for all abilities whilst raising money for the Trust Charity. Follow @TeamLGT on Twitter.

Registrations for The Tree Run | Virtual are open now, and runners can complete their pledged distance on or before 25th April.

Entry (adults aged 17+) costs £12 which includes UK postage of the wooden medal. One Running Movement will donate £2 from each entry to Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Charity Trust.
