UK Run Events, the events channel of #UKRunChat and organisers of The Running Festival at Goodwood, have confirmed that due to popular demand a Family Mile has been incorporated into the event on Sunday 14th October 2018.

The Family Mile starts at 9am and will be open to young runners aged between 4-16 years, who will complete one mile at the historic Goodwood Motor Circuit. The youngsters will be cheered on by family and friends in the grandstand and enjoy a full finish experience before being awarded with their unique finisher’s medal.

All young runners under the age of 11 will need to be accompanied by an adult, who will also receive a medal for completing the race, while those aged 11-16 can run unaccompanied. There will be an enclosed repatriation area and huge support for all participants, making this a great way for young runners to experience the thrill of a big sporting event. Entries are open now.

The Running Festival at Goodwood UK Run EventsThe Running Festival at Goodwood already includes a 10K and a Half Marathon – covering 2.5 and 5.5 laps respectively – and appeals both to motor sport fans wanting to race on the smooth tarmac of this classic circuit as well as to those wishing to simply enjoy the experience of running at this quintessential English estate.

Of particular excitement for the UK’s runners will be the presence of many different running clubs and communities. Leading online community for women Run Mummy Run has its own wave of runners in the 10K and Half Marathon, and the whole day will make for a glorious end-of-season celebration for the entire running community.

Places for the Family Mile are expected to be snapped up by families who have adults taking part in the 10K and Half Marathon as well as by local children wishing to be a part of this exciting new event in Sussex. It is also a great chance for adults new to running to get active with their children and enjoy the chance to run and earn a medal together.

Race Director Joe Williams commented, “We are delighted to announce the Family Mile at The Running Festival at Goodwood and look forward to welcoming young runners of all abilities. The youngsters will get the full race experience in front of crowds of supporters and earn an impressive medal for their training and race day efforts! With the summer holidays finished, now is the perfect time to sign up and have a superb day of running to look forward to this autumn.”
