The organisers of the Ffit Conwy Llandudno Sea Triathlon have confirmed that registration is open for the 2015 event.
Taking place on Sunday 5th July 2015, the Ffit Conwy Llandudno Sea Triathlon is set amongst spectacular scenery and is a must do event in the triathlon calendar, with options of both a standard and a sprint distance race. The event attracts athletes of all levels, with many club and GB age group athletes competing in North Wales year after year. The event also features a women’s only wave.
Both the standard and the sprint distance triathlon incorporate the thrill of a sea swim followed by a cycle on closed roads around the Great Orme, with a challenging climb, fast descent and glorious views over the North Wales Coast. The run route goes out along the Victorian Promenade before heading over the Little Orme to Penrhyn Bay and back to finish on the promenade.
The standard distance race includes a 1500m open water swim followed by a 36km (4 laps) cycle and a 10km run. The sprint race consists of a 750m open water swim followed by a 19km (2 laps) cycle and a 5km run. Transition is near the jetty on the promenade providing an exciting spectacle for those who just want to watch.
The hub of the event is on the promenade where the crowd of spectators can watch the swim in the sea, the transition area and the athletes crossing the finish line. The ERDINGER Alkoholfrei tent will be at the finish again to hand out ice cold isotonic recovery drinks to finishing triathletes.
Race Director Simon Hill commented: “The Ffit Conwy Llandudno Sea Triathlon continues to grow in size and popularity, with many athletes combining the race with a weekend away with friends and family in the Welsh seaside resort. The Ffit Conwy Llandudno Sea Triathlon takes place at one of the country’s most beautiful triathlon venues, with athletes of all levels aspiring to be on the start line each year.
