The organisers of the award-winning Ealing Half Marathon have announced that public places have sold out, but charity places will remain open for one week in advance of the event on Sunday 30th September 2018.
Runners have between Monday 10th and Sunday 16th September to sign up to run for one of the official race charities, Alzheimer’s Society or Cancer Research UK.
This is a fantastic last chance to take part in one of the UK’s favourite half marathons and raise money for a good cause. Ealing Half Marathon has always been an excellent platform for charity fundraising and this last-minute window to run for charity is expected to be welcomed by those yet to secure their place on the start line of this popular autumn race.
Alzheimer’s Society is the only UK charity investing in research into dementia care, cause, cure and prevention, whilst working to meet the needs of people affected by dementia and inspiring change. All fundraising efforts at Ealing Half will help the charity to make greater progress towards its vision of a world without dementia.
Meanwhile, Cancer Research UK is the world’s leading cancer charity dedicated to saving lives through research. The charity’s pioneering work into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer has helped to save millions of lives, and support from runners at Ealing Half Marathon will help them to take another step closer to beating cancer.
Thousands of runners from the world over are preparing to soak up the famous #EalingFeeling in just under three weeks. The event is a big favourite among the running community, boasting incredible community support and a superb atmosphere. This will be the seventh edition of the race and it is set to be the biggest and best yet.
The UKA-measured single-lap course follows a closed-road route around the leafy streets of West London, taking in parts of Central Ealing, Montpelier, Pitshanger, West Ealing, Hanwell and St Stephens. The race starts and finishes in Ealing’s Lammas Park, where the race village is located.
Race Director Sandra Courtney commented, “We are delighted to announce that charity places will remain open for the 2018 Ealing Half Marathon until Sunday 16th September. With general places sold out, this is a very special window of opportunity to sign up and run for a brilliant cause. Alzheimer’s Society and Cancer Research have always received huge support from our runners, and in return they provide amazing support for fundraisers in the run-up to the event and on the day! We would encourage anyone yet to sign up to do so now and help make a difference to others. We look forward to welcoming everyone on the day!”
