Female Kite Week and Leaving Vietnam….

Kb4Girls

So your probably thinking what does female kite week  have to do with me? Well Best Kiteboarding (My  Kiteboarding Sponsor) support KB4girls which was set up to encourage more woman to take up the sport. They do a whole lot more as well, like fundraising, environmental work and advanced coaching. I was asked in Vietnam if I would coach for one of the days and of course I said yes!

Lewis on the beach When it’s windy I like to spend the majority of the coaching time on the water so after a quick chat and set up on the beach we all headed out. At the end of the day we done a downwinder to the town of Phan Thiet which lasts about an hour. It takes some skill to negotiate along the coastline, past the harbours and fishing boats but everyone made it fine 🙂

Thanks Liz at C2Sky Kite School for organising the whole week and putting so much effort in.

Kiting Back Home

Kiting back home Worthing

Arriving back home for Christmas after 2 months away in Asia was a very new experience for me. Usually my long trip away is Cape Town (Jan-Feb) I always feel that the most exciting conditions in the UK are from September to January, so I had to make the most of the short time I had back in Worthing.

One of the things we used to do a lot was to Kite all the way to Brighton and get the Bus back so I tucked £10 in my wetsuit pocket and headed to the beach. It’s an amazing experience, riding the waves all the way down starting at my favourite spot in the whole world Goring, then it’s onwards to the Best Pier in the world- Worthing Pier. From there I go past my family home on the seafront, Lancing, Shoreham then the forgotten Pier (I never forgot) The West Pier, finally finishing at The Palace Pier Brighton.

Selected For RedBull King Of The Air 2015!

Red Bull King of the Air
Thank you so much for all your help which got me into the main event. My profile page is on the official King Of The Air website amongst some of the best riders in the world. Without everybody voting for me this wouldn’t have been possible. I’m flying out to Cape Town as I write this update to get as much time on the water as possible before the event starts at the end of January.

This year is going to be even more exciting as Technology has advanced so much now that a realtime hight reading can be taken from each rider. The level of coverage this event has is also mind blowing. You will be able to watch live on the RedBull website so make sure you don’t miss it!

Joining the Mystic Team!

Mystic Sponsor

I’m really happy to announce my new sponsor Mystic. Mystic have been very supportive of many events that I’ve been involved with (like the Kitesurfing Armada) and the right time came to take a place on the UK team. What’s especially nice for me is the full range covers everything Kite Specific. Now my Wetsuit’s, Harnesses, Bags, Clothes and even Waterproof Boxer shorts come from one brand.

Internationally Mystic have an incredible team, with the likes of Ruben Lenten and Youri Zoon riding and testing the equipment I know I’m in good hands. Mystic are also now partners of the RedBull King Of The Air, read on here…

Lew’s World Tour

During my travels I visit some incredible places. Throughout 2015 I’m going to share them with you via a monthly Video….Video Channel

Taiwan: The Heart of Asia is the first stop on my World Tour. I go on the search for top kitesurfing conditions and a taste of the local culture. During my visit the Kiteboard Tour Asia put on Taiwan’s first ever kiteboarding event. Each episode will contain a special Session Tip or ‘SeshTip’ which will help you develop your kiteboarding skills starting with ‘The Backloop Transition’. Click here to watch

I’d love to know what you think, so leave me a comment on my facebook or youtube page!
