Lewis Crathern Kitesurfer – October Update

Lewis Crathern October

“October featured the last round of the IKA World Tour in Italy/Sardinia, as well as the UK Kitesurfing Industry Awards in Brighton. It also included a nice round up of some great recent coverage. Enjoy my latest news!”

Sometimes you don’t get the things you want in life. I was leading overall going into the IKA World Tour final stop in Italy and a good result would have helped me gain the title. I wanted it so badly but it wasn’t meant to be. I had a great year on tour winning every heat possible, but came short in the last one….the Final in Italy.

I’m told it’s a good achievement after what happened at the start of the year. I’ll soon have another chance to go for it again and next time will feel so much better!

2016 IKA Kiteboarding World Championships Final Results:

Big Air Men:

1st Posito Martinez (DOM / Da Silva) – 1855 pts
2nd Lewis Crathern (GBR / North) – 1855 pts
3rd Marius Hoppe (GER) – 1830 pts

UK Kitesurfing Industry Awards

The UK Kitesurfing Industry Awards took place at the BKSA end of year party at The Grand Hotel in Brighton/West Sussex. This event has been a welcome addition to the UK Kitesurfing Calendar and is designed to inspire kitesurfers across the UK as well as recognise the talent we already have. Even though I couldn’t attend the event I was ecstatic to hear that The Kitesurfing Armada won Best Event and I took home ‘Overseas Ambassador for UK Kitesurfing‘ for the 2nd year running! I was able to make a small thank you video from Italy and have it played on the big screen. It came at the best time for me and really picked up my mood after the Tour result.

October Coverage

KiteSoul Magazine ran a lovely article with me which you can read online here. It touches on my crash but also looks at all the different things I get up to. I also advise on what sort of ages young people can get into the sport now. Bottom right I feature in the early pages of The Kite Mag which focuses on one of my biggest moves from the IKA China event last month.
