The 13th OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO takes place on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th March 2019 and entries are open.

OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO is Cyprus’ largest sporting event and is known for being flat and fast, covering long stretches of traffic-free road including the spectacular coastal road of greater Limassol. It is an ideal event for runners of all levels, with a choice of race distances and a very real chance to achieve a PB.

Limassol Marathon Corporate 5KThis popular international event celebrated its best year yet at the 2018 event on 17th and 18th March, with many participants referring to it as #MoreThanARace following a first-class weekend experience. A strong contingent of British runners and other overseas visitors made the most of great value end-of-winter flights to enjoy a superb few days of running, socialising and relaxing in beautiful Limassol. With gorgeous spring weather, magnificent views of the sparkling Mediterranean and immaculate accommodation, Limassol is a complete race experience and a fantastic date for the spring diary.

2019 race weekend kicks off on Saturday 23rd March with the PrimeTel 5K Corporate Race at 09:00.

Together these races offer a complete sporting experience for all ages and abilities. Overseas visitors can expect a friendly and celebratory atmosphere in a beautiful seaside location, as well as the highest international running standards.

Now entering its 13th year, OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO is fully accredited by AIMS, the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races.

The 26.2-mile marathon route was upgraded for 2018, taking runners from the palm tree-lined seafront of Molos in the centre of Limassol westwards past the marina and port, before turning around to run along the coast as far as the ancient ruins of the Royal City of Amathus, dating from 1100 BC. The route stretches along the beautiful Mediterranean coastline, reaching a maximum altitude of 18m and providing runners with magnificent views and a refreshing sea breeze. Add pleasant spring temperatures of 9-17°C and low rainfall in March, and it really is an ideal location to run a strong race.

The 2018 men’s marathon title was claimed by Simon Kiprugut Kirui with a time of 02:18:28, and Jevtic Olivera secured the women’s title with a time of 02:44:26.

Limassol Race Pacers

A pacing team led by experienced pacer Paul Addicott will be returning to help runners hit their targets in both the marathon and half marathon. Paul’s ‘Pick Up The Pace’ team includes some friendly faces from 2018, with Phil and Emma returning to pace the half marathon and Beppe and Matt the full marathon. Paul himself will be pacing the sub 4-hour #funbus in the marathon.

The pacers will be covering the following times:

Marathon: 3:30, 3:45, 4.00, 4.15, 4.30, 4.45, 5.00
Half Marathon: 1:30, 1:45, 2:00, 2:15, 2:30
