The Lincoln Half Marathon takes place on 30th September 2018 at the Lincolnshire Showground and general entries are open.
This beautiful half marathon, organised by OSB Events, is returning for its third year and is looking forward to welcoming runners old and new to the streets of Lincoln this autumn.
The Lincolnshire Showground provides a perfect race hub and it is here that the 13.1-mile race starts and finishes. It is an ideal venue for athletes and spectators to gather and cheer as the runners head out on the closed-road course into Lincoln.
Runners pass along the Fossdyke Canal and through Brayford Wharf before heading uphill on Yarborough Road to take in the magnificent sights of Lincoln Castle and Lincoln Cathedral, where The Da Vinci Code was filmed. The music hotspot and plentiful support on the hill climb keeps runners motivated right to the top, and the historic landmarks make Lincoln a truly impressive half marathon location.
For runners living locally and those coming from further afield, the Lincolnshire Showground offers plenty of space and on-site parking. Competitors and spectators alike can look forward to a fantastic atmosphere, with live entertainment from DJs and bands as well a range of food and drink vendors to keep everyone fuelled throughout the day.
Many athletes use the event as a chance to enjoy a few days in Lincoln exploring the quaint shops, galleries, cafes and fascinating history. It makes for a great-value weekend away in a stunning setting, and an ideal opportunity to include family and friends in race plans.
Exciting news for young runners is that the 2018 event will see the first ever Lincoln Mini Marathon, an event based entirely within the safe surroundings of the Lincolnshire Showground. Open to under 17s, the Mini Marathon will take place shortly after the Half Marathon event.
The second Lincoln Half Marathon Corporate Challenge also takes place on the same day and presents a great opportunity for local businesses to fundraise, get fit and have fun team building. The race promises to be a highly entertaining and competitive part of race day and entry is now open to teams of 5 or more runners.
Cancer Research UK is the Official Event Charity for the 2018 Lincoln Half Marathon, along with local charity Ethan Maull ‘Up Yours to Cancer’ Foundation.
Intersport Lincoln is the Official Sports Retailer and ON is the Official Sports Brand for the 2018 Lincoln Half Marathon. Other sponsors include David Lloyd Clubs, Your Print Partner, Running Imp, HIGH5, ERDINGER Alkoholfrei and City of Lincoln Council.
