The organisers of One Running Movement, a collaborative evolution for movement and change, have announced details of their Adult Solo Half Marathon and Marathon Virtual & Ring Special events.
The Adult Solo virtual running events are available to participants aged 17+ and must be completed between 1st May and 31st December 2020.
As virtual events, participants can choose where and when they complete their challenge, provided they follow government advice about running and COVID-19 which can be found here.
The Adult Solo Half Marathon is a distance of 13.1 miles that must be completed solo and in one go. For just £15 all finishers will receive a One Running Movement Half Marathon medal, a McLEAR Smart Payment Ring and a 20% discount code for use at Up & Running Online .
The Adult Solo Marathon is a distance of 26.2 miles that must be completed solo and in one go. Finishers will receive a One Running Movement Marathon medal, a McLEAR Smart Payment Ring and a 20% discount code for use at Up & Running Online .
Proof of completion of either the Half Marathon or Marathon distance must be submitted to One Running Movement. Once this is validated, each finisher will receive a free McLEAR Smart Payment Ring, provided they have opted in to receive this at registration. The McLEAR Smart Ring is a small, lightweight device that allows the user to make fast and secure contactless payments by simply tapping their hand – removing the need for bank cards, phones and of course cash. It is a fantastic reward for anyone completing their One Running Movement Adult Solo Virtual & Ring Special this year.
Finishers will also receive a 20% discount code for online use at specialist running retailer Up & Running .
There are just 250 places available for each event distance and runners are encouraged to secure their place asap. The sooner the virtual event is completed (from 1st May onwards), the sooner the McLEAR Smart Payment Ring and Up & Running discount will be received.
Full terms and conditions about how the events work and what is included can be found here.
As both Adult Solo virtual events are very much a community effort reaching out to runners across the country, many of whom are now at home, participants are encouraged to share their achievements and chat to the One Running Movement community through their social channels @OneRunMovement #MoveForLife.
One Running Movement also offers two cumulative virtual running challenges for young runners: Schools Half Marathon Virtual Special is open to youngsters aged 4+ and is available to start immediately, and Schools Marathon Virtual Special is open to young runners aged 13+ between 1st May and 31st December 2020. Both events are designed to be completed over a period of time and offer rewards along the way to keep participants motivated. Virtual sign up costs £12. Find out more here.

One Running Movement Co-Founder Joe Williams commented, “We are delighted to launch our One Running Movement Adult Solo Virtual & Ring Specials, to enable runners aged 17+ to continue to be active and have something fantastic to work towards during these unprecedented times. For some, it may be the chance to work towards a Half Marathon or Marathon goal for the first time, while for others it might be the perfect incentive to keep up existing training and work towards a new goal. We are doing all that we can to support people and encourage movement, which is a great way to keep physically and emotionally healthy during this time. We would ask all participants to of course follow government guidelines as they do so. We look forward to hearing all about people’s efforts and achievement through our social channels and to developing a community that’s all about positivity, wellbeing and kindness.”
