Revolution Bars Group

The organisers of the 2017 Lincoln Half Marathon Corporate Challenge that took place on Sunday 1st October have confirmed Revolution Bars Group as the winners of the event.

Revolution, a premium cocktail bar and restaurant in the centre of Lincoln, were crowned the first Lincoln Corporate Challenge Champions on what proved to be a fantastic day of sporting celebration for runners and local businesses. Taking place as part of the Lincoln Half Marathon, the Lincoln Half Marathon Corporate Challenge was new for 2017 and offered a fantastic opportunity for local businesses to compete against each other and enjoy the benefits of running as a team.

Revolution won the Corporate Challenge in a time of 05:05:46 and proudly received a trophy displaying their company name as well as guaranteed entry to the 2018 event.

The team was headed up by team captain Ellen Kelman, aged 23, and included colleagues Charlotte Booth and Michael Fox.

They followed the 13.1-mile closed-road course of the Lincoln Half Marathon through the vibrant harbour of Brayford Wharf and up to the magnificent landmarks of Lincoln Castle and the medieval Cathedral, before finishing at the Lincolnshire Showground.

Ethan Maull Foundation logoRevolution were running to raise money for local charity The Ethan Maull ‘Up Yours to Cancer’ Foundation, which was set up by young cancer patient Ethan Maull before he passed away in 2014. The Foundation is helping to fund a house close to Lincoln hospital where families can stay while their children are receiving cancer treatment, and all money raised by Revolution will take them a step closer towards achieving this goal. Revolution has so far raised £379 on JustGiving and the company has pledged to match all funds raised by their team.

Revolution Team Captain Ellen Kelman commented, “We are thrilled to have won the Lincoln Half Marathon Corporate Challenge and are very proud to be named the fastest business in Lincoln! Not only was the race itself a fantastic event to be a part of, with its beautiful course through historic Lincoln, we really enjoyed the training and team building in the weeks prior to the half marathon. It was a great opportunity to get fit, have fun and work towards a shared goal, and we loved the challenge. Raising money for charity was an added bonus and we are happy to have been able to combine our efforts with making a difference to a worthwhile cause. We can’t wait to return as champions to the 2018 event!

Race Director Iain Hamilton commented: “Many congratulations to Revolution Bars Group for winning the Lincoln Half Marathon Corporate Challenge. They did a great job entering a team of 10 and training hard in the run-up to the event, and they thoroughly deserve their medals and trophy! We hope that their efforts will inspire other local businesses to enter the Corporate Challenge next year and enjoy all the benefits of training and competing together. The 2017 event was a wonderful day of sporting achievement and we would like to thank all the businesses, residents and spectators for their incredible support.”
