Run for Charity at JCP Swansea Half Marathon

JCP Swansea Half Marathon Run for Charity

The organisers of the JCP Swansea Half Marathon have confirmed that general public places have sold out for the race on Sunday 26th June 2016.

Anyone wishing to run the race that has recently been voted the UK’s second best half marathon at The Running Awards can still do so by running for one of the official charities.

From now until 24th June, runners can register to run the JCP Swansea Half Marathon for one of five superb charity partners. The Headline Charity Partner for 2016 is Cancer Research UK, with Alzheimer’s Society, British Heart Foundation, Help for Heroes and Save the Children as Gold Charity Partners.

Running for charity is a brilliant way to get involved as the charities are there to help every step of the way, from providing practical fundraising advice and training tips to running vests and cheering packs. They will also be out in force on the day, with full race-day support and dedicated cheering points adding to the vibrant atmosphere en route.

The JCP Swansea Half Marathon has always been a fantastic platform for charity fundraising, and with a new charity structure in place for 2016 the race hopes to beat previous targets as it looks forward to welcoming a record 8,000 runners to the start line.

Although only in its third year, the JCP Swansea Half Marathon is fast becoming a favourite among the running community as it is equally suitable for first-time runners as it is for charity fundraisers and elite athletes. With its flat and fast 13.1-mile course, spectacular views and incredible crowd support, this is an event not to miss – as proved last year when the race attracted athletes from 25 countries, including an elite field from Wales and beyond.

Race Director David Martin-Jewell commented:We are thrilled that the JCP Swansea Half Marathon continues to increase in popularity, with all public places now sold out. Anyone still wishing to run and experience everything that Swansea has to offer can register with one of our official charities, which is a really rewarding way to take part. We are proud to be supporting five extremely worthy charity partners for whom events such as ours can make a huge difference. For many people this is a great way to give something back and support a cause close to their hearts.

“We are looking forward to filling our charity spaces with just four weeks to go before our biggest and best JCP Swansea Half Marathon yet!

The JCP Swansea Half Marathon starts in the heart of the city centre at the junction of Union Street and Oxford Street. The route takes runners on fully closed roads past Swansea castle and along a magnificent six-mile stretch of Swansea Bay towards The Mumbles, with its iconic pier and lighthouse. It is quickly earning itself a reputation as a road race with one of the most scenic coastal routes, passing spectacular sweeps of sandy beach and with views to Devon on a clear day.
