Run Mummy Run new partnership and key diary events

Leanne Davies Run Mummy Run

For Run Mummy Run, the leading online running community for women, 2018 was always going to be big. Starting with the launch of their first book, Run Mummy Run: Inspiring Women to Be Fit, Healthy and Happy, which has been a huge success, this support network for female runners has gone from strength to strength.

Six months in, Run Mummy Run’s closed Facebook group has grown to 59,000 members – a staggering number given that it started out 5 years ago as just a small group of three women, comprising Founder of Run Mummy Run Leanne Davies and two friends. The community welcomes females of any ability to join and gain support, encouragement and motivation with their running, and it’s no understatement to say that thousands of friendships have been born between women connecting with like-minded others.

Of particular excitement for Run Mummy Run as we enter July is the announcement of their partnership with Fitness Rewards, the life insurance that rewards its members for being healthy. It is the perfect partnership for a community such as Run Mummy Run that is all about promoting a healthier lifestyle and a positive frame of mind through running.

“Life insurance is traditionally a fairly boring subject,” admits Leanne, “but this is a great way to make it exciting. The more fit you become, the more points you earn and the more rewards you get – it’s a brilliant way to motivate our members to keep up with their running and gain amazing perks while they’re at it! As part of our partnership with Fitness Rewards we will be hosting regular challenges with lots of prizes and fun for everyone. Alongside Cancer Research UK, Fitness Rewards is now our second biggest partner and we are incredibly excited to introduce the scheme to our members, whether they are serious marathon runners or just starting their first 5K.”

The Running Festival at Goodwood UK Run EventsA hot date in the diary for Run Mummy Run members of all abilities is The Running Festival at Goodwood on Sunday 14th October 2018. This superb day of running will feature a Half Marathon, a 10K and a Family Lap, and is set to be a glorious end-of-season celebration for the entire running community. Plenty of communities including Run Mummy Run will be present on the day, with Run Mummy Run even having its own wave in the 10K and Half Marathon.

“The Running Festival at Goodwood will be our biggest ever social meet-up in five years,” says Leanne excitedly. “We have almost 200 ladies signed up already and are hoping that many more will join us for this amazing day of running at an iconic location. We have a lovely area reserved for Run Mummy Run to welcome members. We are also selling our own Goody Woody race packs so people can pre-order their Run Mummy Run goodies to pick up on the day. It will be incredible to have so many of the community gathered together in the same place and I can’t wait to be there and soak it all up.”

And will Leanne be running herself? “I will be running the 10K!” she confirms. “I have a fabulous event team in place to help on the day, and I can’t miss the chance to run on the smooth tarmac of the Goodwood race circuit!”

Limassol MarathonAt the same time as organising the Run Mummy Run gathering at Goodwood, Leanne is looking ahead to one of her favourite races, OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO, which Run Mummy Run will be returning to for the second consecutive year. Once more, they have their very own race package for the weekend of 23rd-24th March 2019, and they already have three times more people signed up than in 2018.

“The 2019 event is looking to be huge!” says Leanne. “Last year’s event was such a great success for so many reasons – it is a brilliant chance for a long weekend away at the end of the winter, the coastal location is simply stunning, the course is flat and fast, the views are amazing and the people are just incredibly friendly and welcoming. The choice of race distances also makes Limassol perfect for all abilities. It really is an unforgettable weekend away!”

Run Mummy Run The National Running Show2019 will also see Run Mummy Run’s second appearance at The National Running Show, at Birmingham’s NEC on 19th-20th January. The inaugural event in January 2018 was an overwhelming success for Leanne and her team, where they welcomed long queues of fans over the two days. “For 2019 we have an even bigger stand and we are planning new kit and new designs, which is very exciting,” confirms Leanne.

Leanne will be gearing up for the weekend by attending The National Running Conference in partnership with Running Imp on Friday 18th January, a new industry-leading event that will host a gathering of key leaders and business influencers in the running world. “I am looking forward to learning lots in a commercial sense and it will be extremely interesting to hear and share ideas about the future of the UK running market,” she explains.

There is certainly plenty on Leanne’s plate as we enter the second half of the year and she seems poised and ready to embrace all that lies ahead. Of course, her running shoes are never far from sight and she continues to inspire her many followers with her own running adventures and achievements.
