Co-founder of Schools Running Movement Rebecca Richardson was invited to speak at the Reach Women’s Leadership Summit taking place at the Hilton at the Ageas Bowl, in Southampton, on 2nd and 3rd October 2019.
Rebecca was delighted to join Reach to present Schools Running Movement, an inspiring and potentially life-changing movement that is encouraging young runners across the UK to #MoveForLife.
Schools Half Marathon, which is part of Schools Running Movement, will see thousands of primary school pupils achieve their very own cumulative half marathon over the upcoming school year 2019/20. With 34 Schools Half Marathon events taking place across the UK, the aim is to encourage youngsters to develop healthy habits to exercise regularly, away from screens and building confidence, resilience and mental agility through sport. Non-competitive and fully inclusive, the challenge welcomes pupils of all abilities and backgrounds. Participants run the first 12 miles at school over the course of a term or half term, before completing the final 1.1 mile at an organised event and celebrating their achievement with teachers, family and friends.
The Reach Women’s Leadership Summit was the perfect platform for Rebecca to present Schools Running Movement and discuss the growing movement with a room of like-minded, innovative females.
Set up by leading Sky Sports presenter Sarah Stirk, Reach is a platform that is building a female community based on ‘Collaborate to Accelerate’ in order to help women of all ages and backgrounds reach their goals. The autumn Summit welcomed a diverse group of women from different walks of life to learn from, help and support each other in their work, careers and lives.
Presenting and interviewed over the two days along with Rebecca were former England cricket captain Charlotte Edwards, Founder and CEO of the MOBO organisation Kanya King CBE, Deputy Vice President of the Law Society of England and Wales I. Stephanie Boyce, management consultant Mary Keane-Dawson, Co-founder of The Drum Diane Young, Managing Director at Breakthrough Global Zannah Ryabchuk, Founder of Pinkspiration Lisa Marie Brown MCIM and entrepreneur and mentor Kathy Ennis.
Schools Running Movement Director Rebecca Richardson commented, “It was a privilege and pleasure to present at such an iconic venue for the Reach Women’s Leadership Summit last week. It was inspirational to listen to everybody’s stories and share ideas about how we can collaborate to reach collective goals. I am incredibly proud of where we have come with Schools Running Movement, which is enhancing the physical and emotional wellbeing of youngsters across the nation and enabling them to achieve something amazing with their friends. Our strength is in our collaborations with communities, schools, families, the sports industry and our partners and media – and it is through collaborations like Reach Summit that we help each other to achieve our ambitions.”
