Strava Confirmed as Official Partner of The Running Awards

The organisers of The Running Awards in association with JustGiving have confirmed Strava as an official partner of the 2016 awards.

Strava, the social network for athletes which connects millions of runners and cyclists through its mobile apps and website, will be hosting 100 key running press and fitness bloggers for a 5K Run with Strava and exclusive Q&A session ahead of the prestigious awards on 22nd April at indigo at The O2, London.

StravaSince its founding back in 2009, Strava has grown from a handful of users to tens of millions of athletes around the world. At present, 150,000 new members sign up to Strava every single week; in 2015, globally, Strava athletes uploaded a staggering 5.3 activities every second.

The 3rd edition of The Running Awards takes place on Friday 22nd April 2016 at indigo at The O2 in London. The Running Awards is THE independent annual awards ceremony celebrating the best of running and its culture, with runners and consumers nominating and voting for their favourite products, brands, publications, sports retailers, charities and events.

550 A-list industry figures as well as 600 running enthusiasts from the running community and the aforementioned 100 bloggers will witness the best in the industry, as independently voted for by runners, being awarded the sought-after Running Awards trophies in April.

The shortlists for The 2016 Running Awards in association with JustGiving were unveiled in December, with the top 12 in each category announced and the 2nd stage of voting now open. The full shortlists can be viewed on the website http://therunningawards.com.

Paul Corrick, co-founder of The Running Awards commented: “We are excited to announce Strava as Official Partner and host of the inaugural Run with Strava at The Running Awards. We are looking forward to welcoming 100 key industry bloggers on this fantastic 5K run and at what will be our biggest ceremony yet. Our partnership with Strava reflects our desire to work with the very best in the running industry and to create exciting, memorable events. We are very grateful for the support by Strava and are delighted to welcome them on board.”

Simon Klima, UK Country Manager for Strava, commented: “We are delighted to be supporting The Running Awards this year and look forward to the event in April. Strava is a great way for runners to find and keep up to date with likeminded athletes, as well as using our online network to analyse and improve training and performance. In 2015 in the UK we had almost 11 million runs logged on Strava, totalling a distance of over 86 million km, so it is great to see the UK Strava running community going from strength to strength.”

100 selected bloggers will receive invitations from Strava through The Running Awards, and will have a limited time to accept and register through Eventbrite.
