Swansea BID CEO Russell Greenslade encourages businesses to sign up
for Swansea Half Marathon Corporate Challenge

Entries for the Swansea Half Marathon Corporate Challenge on Sunday 26th June opened last November, and the organisers are looking forward to seeing as many companies as possible from the Swansea Bay region and beyond taking on the team challenge this June.

A team from Swansea BID took part in last year’s Corporate Challenge, and CEO Russell Greenslade remembers the training and the build up to the event: “We found that the training was great for team bonding outside of the office and it created lots of healthy competition amongst the team, from who clocked the fastest times in training to who raised the most money for charity.

“Now is the perfect time to sign up your teams for the Swansea Half Marathon Corporate Challenge and to get involved in one of the UK’s fastest growing half marathons. With just over four months to go until race day there is still plenty of time for training, even for beginners.”

Swansea BID (Business Improvement District) is a private sector not-for-profit limited by guarantee organisation that works with over 800 businesses and organisations in Swansea City Centre area with its overall objective to make the City Centre a better place to shop, visit, stay, study and do business. Swansea BID, with its Big Heart of Swansea brand, has been one of the Official Partners of the JCP Swansea Half Marathon since the inaugural race.

Russell Greenslade said: “The JCP Half Marathon always had the legs to become a big event for the city centre so it’s great we were able to get involved as sponsors from the start to secure its activity and focus in the city centre increasing foot flow and spend for the businesses. Of course, if we are unsuccessful at our renewal at the end of February our involvement and support for this high foot flow driving event for the city centre and its businesses which helped secure its city centre location will stop more or less over night.”

The opportunity to enter the Corporate Challenge is open to any business or organisation, whether it be a social enterprise or a large commercial operation. The event offers a fantastic platform for companies to actively promote a healthy work force and to encourage fitness, motivation and team building in the business environment whilst raising money for charity.

Corporate teams consist of between five to fifty runners, and the team with the fastest combined team time (average time of the top five fastest finishers) will win the Corporate Challenge Champions title. Last year’s winner of the inaugural Corporate Challenge was the team from HMT Sancta Maria.
