The shortlists for The 2016 Running Awards in association with JustGiving have been unveiled today, with the top 12 in each category announced and the 2nd stage of voting now open.
The 2016 Running Awards launched in September and saw over 900 nominations and more than 6,000 votes within the first day and a half alone. Nearly 2,000 products, brands, events, charities, publications and sports retailers were nominated by runners and consumers gaining 36,000 votes in these opening months between them. Nominations are now closed and, with the top 12 unveiled, runners can vote once more for their favourites in the shortlists until the individual categories close. The shortlists can be viewed on the website http://therunningawards.com .
The 2nd stage of voting remains open until 22nd March and all votes are cumulative. The voting in the Event category remains open until 20th April, and runners can vote for their Favourite Charity until 10pm on 22nd April.
The 3rd edition of The Running Awards takes place on Friday 22nd April 2016 at indigo at The O2 in London. 550 A-list industry figures as well as 600 running enthusiasts from the running community and 100 key running press and fitness bloggers will witness the best in the industry, as independently voted for by runners, being awarded the sought-after Running Awards trophies in April.
Paul Corrick, co-founder of The Running Awards commented: “We are excited to unveil the shortlists for The 2016 Running Awards in association with JustGiving, which is the only independent annual awards ceremony celebrating the best of running and its culture. There has been an overwhelming response and we have received record numbers of nominations and votes.
“Congratulations to everyone who has made it into the top 12, and a big thank you to everyone who has voted so far and continues to support The Running Awards. The awards evening on 22nd April will be a must-attend industry event and we are looking forward to a great night.”
