The organisers of the Vitality Bath Half Marathon 2016 have announced the official starters for the Family Fun Run that takes place after the start of the half marathon this Sunday 13th March.
With Bath Rugby Foundation the official Family Fun Run Charity for 2016, the Family Fun Run race starters will be: David Trick (former England winger and Bath Rugby Club President, pictured left); Stuart Hooper (Bath Rugby Team Captain, pictured above), and Maximus (leader of Bath Rugby’s new Junior Membership Club, pictured below). Young runners can meet Maximus here!
Bath Rugby Foundation is a charitable foundation with a mission to reach people at key times in their lives to make a positive impact. The Foundation aims to help people tackle difficult challenges such as unemployment and social isolation, and it supports the most vulnerable children and young people in the area. Each year a different charity partner is chosen and fun runners are encouraged to fundraise for the cause.
The local rugby heroes will be officially starting the Family Fun Run at 11:20am. They will see 1,200 Fun Runners of all ages and abilities set off from, and return to, the official Vitality Bath Half gantry in Great Pulteney Street. Children under the age of eleven must be accompanied by an adult, making the Fun Run a brilliant way for children and adults to get involved in the experience of race day.
All Fun Run entrants receive a free Bath Rugby Foundation t-shirt, and those who complete the ¾ mile, traffic-free course will receive a finisher’s medal and goody bag.
Race Director Andrew Taylor commented: “The Family Fun Run is a great opportunity for families and novice runners to experience the atmosphere and thrill of a big sporting event. We are excited to confirm that David Trick, Stuart Hooper and Maximus will be officially starting this year’s Family Fun Run.”
Mandy Gardner, General Manager, Bath Rugby Foundation said: “We’re delighted to be the official charity of this year’s Fun Run. We hope that it helps us to share the stories of our fantastic participants and raise awareness of the life changing work we carry out in Bath and its surrounding areas each and every day. Good luck runners!”
Entries for the 2016 Family Fun Run are sold out.
