700 volunteer places for the 2017 Ealing Half Marathon

The award-winning Ealing Half Marathon takes place on Sunday 24th September and the organisers are looking for 700 volunteers with the #EalingFeeling to help out on the day.
Volunteering at the Ealing Half Marathon is a fantastic chance to enjoy Ealing’s biggest event of the year. Last year, hundreds of volunteers got involved and had an immensely fun and rewarding experience contributing to the smooth running of the event. Such has been the success of the Ealing Half Marathon that it was voted the UK’s Best Marathon in 2014, 2015 and 2016 at The Running Awards, and each year welcomes back thousands of runners from near and far wanting to soak up the friendly atmosphere and incredible community support.
There are a number of volunteer positions available on race day, including team leaders, traffic coordinators, race marshals, water station teams, baggage and race village coordinators and photographers / videographers. Volunteers will be needed for 4 to 6 hours, depending on the role, and need only bring plenty of enthusiasm and a big smile!
All registered volunteers who complete their role will receive a volunteer medal, breakfast roll, drink and a FREE race place at the 2018 Ealing Half Marathon. There will also be a prize draw after the 2017 event for four lucky winners to win sports vouchers from Up & Running and one lucky winner to receive a magnum of champagne. It is a superb incentive for anyone wishing to be part of a dynamic volunteer team at an outstanding community event.
Friends and families of runners, companies needing to fulfil community hours and all individuals and groups are welcome to volunteer at the Ealing Half Marathon. The race is particularly keen to hear from community groups, clubs and charities wishing to organise a team of volunteers, who in return will be promoted by the race to the runners and their supporters.
Sandra Courtney, Race Director, commented, “We want to make sure our race continues to be the very best it can be and are happy to be able to offer 700 volunteer positions at the 2017 Ealing Half Marathon. This year’s event promises to be the biggest and best yet and we are looking forward to welcoming volunteers in a variety of areas, such as at the race village in Lammas Park and out on the roads of Ealing guiding the runners and helping local residents. The work of our volunteers is invaluable in ensuring the smooth running of the event, plus it is huge fun and an extremely rewarding experience. We want to thank each and every volunteer by offering them food and drink on the day, plus a free place at next year’s event!”
The UKA-measured single lap course of the Ealing Half Marathon covers a route around West London, taking in parts of Central Ealing, Montpelier, Pitshanger, West Ealing, Hanwell and St Stephens before returning to Lammas Park.
Anyone wishing to volunteer on the day of the Ealing Half Marathon should complete the registration form on the website and will be contacted.
Anyone wishing to volunteer before the day, or who has any questions or suggestions, should drop Sandra an email at volunteer@ealinghalfmarathon.com.
A poster is available to download and display for anyone who would like to help spread the word.
