Xempo Race Pacing at Windsor Running Festival

Organisers of the Windsor Running Festival have confirmed the introduction of race pacers, which is a new addition to the 2015 races.

The Running4Women Windsor 10K takes place on Saturday 26th September and the Windsor Half Marathon on Sunday 27th September, both starting and finishing on The Long Walk with fantastic views of Windsor Castle.

Registration for the Running4Women Windsor 10K is open and entry costs £16.50 for UKA members and £18.50 for unaffiliated runners, and charity places are also available. Public places for the Windsor Half Marathon sold out in May but runners can still enter the iconic race through one of the official charity partners including CLIC Sargent and Cancer Research UK.

The race director has confirmed that pacing times for the Running4Women Windsor 10K are Sub 45mins, Sub 55mins, Sub 60mins, Sub 70mins, Sub 80 mins and 80mins +. For the Windsor Half Marathon the pacing times are Sub 90 mins, Sub 1.45, Sub 2.00hrs, Sub 2.15, Sub 2.30 and 2.30+.

The pacers are supplied by Xempo Race Pacing and will be clearly identifiable in the starting pens on The Long Walk. They will wear flags displaying the target finish time, which will be the same colour as both the gates in the starting pens and the runners’ bib number which correspond to their anticipated finish time as entered on the registration form.

Dan Afshar, founder and owner of Xempo Pace Racing, explained: “The most difficult thing to get right in a big race is the pace. Most runners start too quickly then slow down as the race develops. To get the best possible result, you probably want to run at a regular even speed throughout. Xempo Pace Racing is all about hitting target times in big races, and our highly visible team of experienced pacers will run round at an even pace for you to use as a guide as you chase your target time. Whatever your target, whether it’s super fast or a bit more modest, our team will help you achieve the best possible result.”

Race Director Peter Hier commented: “We are pleased to welcome Xempo Race Pacing as one our official partners for the Windsor Running Festival. We constantly strive to improve the runners’ experience and we always listen to the feedback we receive. We are looking forward to the pacers helping the runners to achieve that much sought-after PB in the stunning surroundings of Windsor Great Park.”

Windsor-Running-Festival-Logo_AThe race village for both events is in Windsor Great Park with a range of entertainment and catering options for the whole family, plus great facilities for the runners. There is also free onsite parking for runners and supporters near the race village throughout the weekend.
